Fatal Accident on Conowingo Road

On Thursday June 17th 2021, The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun along with Cecil County Department of Emergency Services paramedics were alerted for a motor vehicle accident in the 1100 block of Conowingo Road. Rescue 8, Engine 18, Engine 813, Brush 8, Ambulance 892 and Ambulance 893 all made the response. Initial reports from callers on the scene advised that someone was trapped under one of the vehicles. Cecil County Dispatch auto-launched Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 1. First arriving units found a 3 vehicle crash with one subject lying in the road. Crews went to work assessing patients and stabilizing the vehicles. Crews discovered the patient lying in the road was beyond help and had succumbed to their injuries. Two other subjects from another vehicle were assessed and released by EMS crews and paramedics. Trooper 1 was cancelled. Fire police maintained control of traffic around the scene. Once all hazards were mitigated, the scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police for accident reconstruction and investigation. A total of 25 members responded to this incident.
