On July 14th at 19:43hrs, Mallory Doris Sawyers was born. She is the daughter of Lieutenant 18, Nick Sawyers, and EMS Lieutenant 18, Brook Haines. Mallory weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 20 inches long at birth. Mom and Baby are doing fine. The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, Inc. would like to congratulate the new parents on their recent addition.

During the week of July 6th, The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, Inc. held its annual Carnival. Attractions included carnival rides, games, Elvis, WXCY, Jack Foraker and much more. Despite the hot weather and rain, a fun time was had by all. We would like to thank Singerly, and Union of Oxford for the Brush Truck standby during the fireworks. On July 6th around 2PM CFCRS was alerted for a Car Fire on the Colonial Way at Union Diagnostic, the caller stated there was a vehicle in the parking lot with a lot of smoke coming from it. Assistant 18 was the first to arrive and advised no fire. Engine 812 arrived shortly after Assistant 18 and discovered an overheated vehicle. The call was placed under control and all units cleared shortly after. For more pictures please click here.

On July 5th around 7:45PM CFCRS, along with Cecil County Paramedic One, was alerted for a MVA in the 2300 block of Liberty Grove Road. Chief 8 was the first to arrive to find a two vehicle accident with no rescue. Rescue 8, Truck 8, and Ambulance 892 all responded shortly after dispatch. Upon arrival Ambulance 892 assisted Paramedic One with the treatment and loading of one patient. Rescue 8 arrived and was advised by Chief 8 to control a gas leak on the one vehicle. Truck 8 arrived and assisted Rescue 8 and Ambulance 892. Crews cleared in just under an hour. For more pictures please click here.
